Intentionally Design Your Life
The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, Mark Manson
“You and everyone you know are going to be dead soon. And in the short amount of time between here and there, you have a limited amount of f*cks to give. Very few, in fact. And if you go around giving a fuck about everything and everyone without conscious thought or choice–well, then you’re going to get f*cked.”
The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck is hilarious and incredibly insightful. He provides some great insights into how to understand better how to operate from your values, how to work through perceived problems, how to use suffering as a means to evolve, choose better problems, and the importance of assuming personal responsibility and creating a sense of freedom via commitment.

According to Manson, there are three subtleties we should get acquainted with concerning discerning what to care about.

According to Manson, there are three subtleties we should get acquainted with concerning discerning what to care about.
Subtlety #1: Not giving a f*ck does not mean being indifferent; it means being comfortable with being different.
What I gathered: There is no need to be indifferent about the gift of life. Instead, intentionally choose what to care
deeply about and let go of the superfluous.
Subtlety #2: When we consistently find ourselves giving too many f*cks about trivial matters, it’s a sign that we
haven’t created much sense of purpose or meaning in our lives, so we get distracted by the unimportant.
What I gathered: When we consistently pay attention to trivial matters, it’s a sign that we haven’t created much sense
of purpose or meaning in our lives, so we unintentionally distract ourselves with the unimportant, thus wasting our
precious f*cks.
Subtlety #3: Whether you realize it or not, you always choose what to give a f*ck about.
What I gathered: Through trial and error, we become more selective about what to care about, hopefully leading to more
simplicity and tranquility in our lives.
