The Go-Giver, Bob Burg and John David Mann
“If you want more success, find a way to serve more people. It’s that simple.” ~ Bob Burg & John David Mann
I loved reading and listening to this book. It’s a quick and light-hearted fictional story about a young go-getter named Joe who learns how to become a genuine go-giver over a week from an older gentleman named Pindar, whom everyone calls The Chairman.
The long story short is that over a week, Pindar introduces Joe to other successful Go-givers. He gains insights into how these happy and successful people have learned to employ The Five Laws of Stratospheric Success.
As you read over these five laws, can you begin to understand how shifting your focus from yourself to others can enrich you and others?
Do you currently employ any of these laws in your daily life fully?
Do you find yourself pouring from an empty cup because you’re constantly giving to others but remain closed off to receiving?
Do you accept abundance when it arrives, or are you blocking the flow?
The giver needs a receiver and vice versa; they are two sides of the same coin.
Would you like to learn more about transitioning from a Go-getter to a Go-Giver?
If so, this book by Bob Burg and John David Mann is a great place to start. Please give it a read or listen. Please consider sharing it with a friend if you haven’t yet.
If you’re hesitant, I’d like to leave this excerpt from the forward, written by Arriana Huffington.
“Giving, touching others’ lives, expanding the circle of our concern to include others, being authentic, and always open to receiving and giving. That’s not just a children’s fairy tale; it’s a good description of many of the most amazing people I’ve encountered.
People want to believe that this is the way the world can work: that living with a focus on others isn’t just a nice goal but that it can be a way of life and lead to a full, rich life fulfilling. But then, too often, we feel pressured by the voices of cynicism and resignation, telling us, “It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there; you’ve got to look out for number one.
Too often, people hear be a “giver” and think of charities, of “giving back” once we have done well for ourselves. But that’s only one very specific facet of giving. By “be a giver,” Bob and John mean to be a giving person, period: one who gives thought, attention, care, focus, time, and energy; gives value to others. Not as a quid pro quo, not as a strategy to get ahead, but because it is a satisfying and fulfilling way to be.”
