The Almanack of Naval Ravikant,  Eric Jorgensen

Learning happiness: “The three big ones in life are wealth, health, and happiness. We pursue them in that order, but their importance is reversed.” ~ @naval

In part two of Eric Jorgenson’s The Almanack of Naval Ravikant (A guide to wealth and happiness), he shares a series of insights from Naval’s tweets, talks, and transcripts from media sources about happiness and learning how to become happy as a skill.

Here are a few quotes from Naval Ravikant that will emphasize these points. Please take a few moments to consider them deeply.

“Maybe happiness is not something you inherit or even choose, but a highly personal skill can be learned, like fitness or nutrition.”

“If you ever want peace in your life, you must move beyond good and evil.”

“There are no external forces affecting your emotions–as much as it may feel that way.”

“We think of ourselves as fixed and the world as malleable, but it’s really we who are malleable, and the world is largely fixed.”

“Happiness is what’s there when you remove the sense that something is missing in your life.”

“We crave experiences that will make us be present, but cravings themselves take us from the present moment.”

“A rational person can find peace by cultivating indifference to things outside of their control.”

“Happiness, love, and passion aren’t things you find–they’re choices you make.”

“What if this life is the paradise we are promised, and we’re just squandering it?”

Please take a few moments:
What immediately comes to mind when considering these ideas?

Does this resonate with you in any way?

Could you formulate your principles or values for yourself and learn to operate from them to create more happiness in your life?

Let these questions serve as some food for thought I’d like to share with you.

This book resonated with me deeply. Jorgenson did a fantastic job curating and distilling some of Naval’s most striking thoughts in a small yet robust and easy-to-read book.

I believe this is a must-read for anyone remotely interested in intentional life design and wealth creation.

For me to try and summarize it for you would do you a great disservice.

If you haven’t read it already, then please do.
